The 25-year-old has taken first place since moving £ 67m from Sporting Lisbon in January and has been awarded the Player of the Month award for his outstanding performance.
Fernandes has now announced that the icon of the Red Devils and compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo has supported his skills in the club’s background checks for winter window transfers.
He said Channel 11: “The fact that Cristiano gave a lot of good pointers to the one who spoke to him during my transfer makes me proud that a player like him recognizes my worth.”
The attacking midfielder points to the success of international teammates Ronaldo and Nani at United as a goal in itself.
“Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani have won big trophies here, and that’s what makes me achieve that.
“Nani, with whom I was allowed to train at Sporting, always spoke well to me about Manchester United.”

Fernandes says that playing in Old Trafford has always been a “dream” for him since his youth in Portugal.
He added: “Manchester was a dream club. My brother was a big fan of Barcelona and I was a fan of United.
“My father worked in Switzerland for a while and we went there for Christmas and we went to a sports shop and my brother happened to get a Barcelona shirt and I got a Manchester United shirt.
“At the time when I was dreaming, of course, but I played for Boavista’s youth, it was a completely different reality. Now I want to make the best of it to leave a mark here.
“English football is different from the others. Here teams come to Old Trafford and want to exert pressure, attack and take risks. The intensity of the game is very high. I thought quickly in Portugal, but here I have to think twice as fast. “
